Living & Learning Communities

Expand Your Naropa Connections!

Learn through relationship.

Living and Learning Communities (LLC’s) are uniquely-crafted semester courses created especially for students living together in Naropa’s two residence halls. By enrolling in a themed 1-credit LLC course, you will get to know your fellow students and neighbors while engaging in hands-on learning, personal reflection, and intentional community-building. LLC’s feature special guest speakers and applied workshops to help you connect with Naropa’s unique campus resources and opportunities. LLC students not only attend campus events together, but are empowered to participate in active community-building by planning and completing a residence hall improvement project.

Connect to your larger community.

Living and Learning Communities partner with incredible Naropa and Boulder-area resources to help you gain a deeper understanding of the educational opportunities that are available to you. By reflecting on your community-building strengths and aspirations, LLC’s help foster intentional networking between students, professionals, faculty, and staff. By connecting to the rich community around you and paving the way for your career and work in the world, you will begin to make the most of your unique Naropa experience from the very start.

What does community look like?

As one example of the community improvement work carried out by LLC’s, during the 2019-2020 academic year, students partnered with the City of Boulder and the Sustainability Office to revitalize residence hall pollinator gardens to help revive the health of bees, butterflies and other vital species!

Research shows that students in Living and Learning Communities are more likely to graduate and feel more satisfied by their college experience.

How to Register.

First-year undergraduate students are required to take a Living and Learning Community course, and other students living in University housing are also invited to register.
